Your privacy choices, in plain English.
This page lists every privacy lever Scrollan exposes to you, and how to pull each one. Most of them are one tap inside the app — because Scrollan was built so that you'd never need to fill out a privacy request form just to feel safe.
Your choices
Don't share my data
You don't need to opt out — we never share or sell personal information. Scrollan is configured with NSPrivacyTracking = false.
Delete everything
Open Scrollan → Profile → Start over. This clears your language, ZIP, picks, saved articles and the tour flag from your phone in a single tap.
One tapStop personal context
Don't want the "Your lens" local panel? Leave the ZIP empty during onboarding, or tap the ZIP chip on Home and clear it. The panel won't appear again.
In ProfileChange your language
Profile → Language. Your selection is stored locally and used only to pick which AI translation to show — nothing about you is sent to OpenAI.
In ProfileForget my saved articles
Each saved article shows a bookmark icon — tap it to unsave. Or use Start over to clear them all.
BookmarkUninstall the app
Long-press the Scrollan icon → Delete App. iOS removes the app's container (including UserDefaults) — there is nothing left on the device or our backend tied to you.
If you live in California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information a business collects about you, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to know. We don't collect personal information beyond the ephemeral preferences listed in our Privacy Policy §3, and those live on your device — request a copy directly from your iPhone Settings.
- Right to delete. Tap Start over in Profile, or delete the app.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, period. There's no toggle to switch off because there's no flow to switch off.
- Right to non-discrimination. Scrollan does not change features, pricing, or quality based on whether you exercise your privacy rights.
To submit a verifiable consumer request anyway, email privacy@scrollan.app. We'll respond within 45 days.
If you live in the EU, UK, or other GDPR-aligned region
You have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, plus the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
- Lawful basis. We process the article ID + language code you send us under the legitimate interest of delivering the AI brief you requested. We rely on rate-limit IP counters under legitimate interest in keeping the service available for everyone.
- Retention. Rate-limit counters age out automatically after 5 minutes. Article rows stored on our servers contain only public web content (title, URL, image, AI-rewritten summary) — no personal data.
- International transfers. Our Supabase backend runs in the United States. OpenAI processes content in the United States. Standard Contractual Clauses are in place where required.
- Complaints. EEA residents may complain to their local data protection authority. UK residents may complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
If you're a parent or guardian
Scrollan is intended for ages 13+. If you believe a child under 13 has somehow shared personal information with us, email privacy@scrollan.app and we'll investigate and delete promptly.
Verifying a request
Because we don't hold an account for you, we can't verify your identity from a server-side record. If you email a privacy request, please describe your interaction with the app in enough detail that we can act in good faith — for example, the approximate dates you used Scrollan, the language you selected, or screenshots of the in-app behavior you're concerned about.
Questions
